Removing excess Bal Superflex
Asked by dean from tyne and wear :
hi there, i am a newly qualified tiler and have just completed tiling a 25m2 bathroom. the tiles i used were a ceramic with a matt finish to them. i grouted them with bal superflex ivory grout and am finding it inpossible to remove excess dust. i have tried using an acid cleaner but still no luck[:(] do you have any suggestions? thanks
TileProf says:
Hi Dean, Thanks for the e-mail, Not an easy one to remove, you should try Mapei ULTRA-colour in the future, fully flexible and fully waterproof and to top it off a dam sight easier to take off than Bal superflex

. If the Grout is just on the surface, the first thing you should do is wet it with a dampened sponge, then dry it with an old Towel, polish off the excess. If this doesn't work then I would try some of our Grout Pre-treater

and spray this on the surface < wipe off any drip marks as you see them > then use a the rough part of a White sponge pad < same as you use to wash kitchen dishes >and scrub the Tile haze with this, then sponge with some water, and then dry off with a towel. We have tried this method before on Bal superflex and find it is the answer, but you need to do this before 30 days as the grout will harden even further. Ps.. Take a look at our Tile Maintenance training course

, it's ideal for someone just starting out in the trade like yourself. Russell Taylor Tile Doctor Ltd
