Mistreated slate
Asked by Greig Stirling from Stirling:
Hi, I manage a bar in Stirling with a slate floor. Prior to my arrival and taking over of the bar the floor had been mistreated, not cleaned, or finished properly for a number of years. Around a month a go I bought "Tile Doctor Pro-Clean", and !Tile Doctor Polish" The floor looked excellent over the weekend however when we buffed the floor on Sunday evening it lost its dazzle. What should I do to maintain the cleanlinese? Which products should I use? What should I do to maintain and improve the shine? Which products are best for this? What type/colour of pad should I have on my floor buffer? My goals is to have a very shiney, none slip, eye catching, and clean floor. Thanks for your help..... Greig Stirling.
TileProf says:
Hi Greg, Slate is a soft stone so doesnt respond to harsh cleaning to well. Best to use a sealer such as Seal and Go, not sure what you bought before as we dont sell a Polish, but 4 coats of Seal and Go with give you a nice even sheen and also improve the colour as well, use only Tile Doctor Neutral cleaner for aftercare as other cleaners are to aggresive for the sealer that has been applied.
