white patches on bradstone flags
Asked by ronnie martin from antrim n. ireland:
white patches on bradstone. riven flags, suspect flags not completely dry when sealant applied [picseal]. can u reccomend a product to remove sealant.
TileProf says:
Hi Ronnie, It could be caused by a damp in the sealer, or if it was laid with sand and cement instead of a bagged adhesive then you may have what is called Effloesence, which is a white salt leaching through to the surface and is comes into contact with Oxygen it then forms a salt crystal, which only time will get rid off < usually a few months > you have seen it on Brickwork dripping down an outside wall, same problem. Acid works well on this, but is not a cure, only time will cure it, and Acid can cause more problems than good most times. If it is a sealer, then try Tile Doctor Remove and Go mixed 50/50 with Nano-tech Ultra-clean and appleid to the Tile s and left to soak for at least 2 hours and then scrub the Tiles witha deck brush and some water, then use a Wet vac to suck it off the floor.
