Asked by remv from London:	Is there any way I can figure out of my Victorian tile flooring is original or a replica? If so, how? Also, how do I know if the tiles are laid on a soft lime bed?

TileProf says:	Hi Remv, Hard to say from just an e-mail, if you send us picture to info@tiledoctor.co.uk we can have a look at it and see if we can see any Tell tale signs, but even if they are original it doesnt mean they were laid on a soft lime bed, usually its a form of concrete scree, the only way to know this is to take up a loose tile and see whats underneath. The lime bed will be a dusty white colour and the Scree will be a green or rey colour. Regards Russell at Tile Doctor
