Varnishing Quarry tiles
Asked by Reina James from Hassocks:
Our cat had a weeing accident some weeks ago and although we've cleaned the tiles with every thing we can think of, the smell lingers. Would it be possible to varnish the tiles, both to cover the odour and to make future accidents easier to clean up?
TileProf says:
Hi Reina, Varnishing will make the smell worse as it happens as the chemicals in the Varnish will chemically react with the cat wee, as will all sealers to be honest. The best answer is to get the cat trained up, otherwise any work you do will get damaged by the strong cat wee. Regards Russell at Tile Doctor http://www.tiledoctor.co.uk/QuarryTile.html
